Over 500 hotels across India are expected to compete for an award in the search for India's most special independent hotels; places that are authentic have character, style and charm.
The White Sky Boutique Hotel Awards are open to all independent and small hotel chains. These awards aim to promote concept of boutique hotels and authentic travel experiences in India. Independent boutique hotels are less visible and still hard to find in India unlike in other Asian and Western countries.
The Awards will seek and highlight independent hotels across India with a story and provide amazing stay experiences. Many of these properties provide 5-star luxury, within a boutique environment. But it is not just about luxury - these hotels may have stunning views and surroundings, possibly in former palaces and colonial-era buildings and provide excellent service without having all the frills.
The closing date for nominations is the 30th of September 2012 and hotels can nominate themselves online. There are ten categories to choose from, and each hotel can nominate itself to three categories. These range from best wildlife boutique hotel to the most romantic boutique hotel. Winning hotels will be selected by a panel of eminent industry veterans, travel writers, professionals and seasoned travellers.
Travellers around the world can also participate by nominating their favourite hotels in India. As an incentive to participate, travellers have a chance to win an overnight cruise aboard the luxury house boat, Dream Voyager in Alleppey, Kerala.
