Whale Watching And Shark Stalking With Gordon Buchanan And Sea Life Surveys

Wildlife filmmaker Gordon Buchanan and award winning Sea Life Surveys search for whales and sharks on exclusive limited cruises in July. Travelers will also enjoy a stop over on their very own private paradise, a desert island with pristine sands.

Wildlife presenter and filmmaker Gordon Buchanan returns home to Mull to search for whales and sharks with Sea Life Surveys next month. And wildlife enthusiasts old and young can join Gordon on board the Sula Beag for a unique and exciting cruise with a percentage of the ticket price going to charity.

Already the 2011 season is shaping up to be one of the best yet for award winning Sea Life Surveys who recorded their earliest yet sighting of sharks last month, spotting four basking sharks before dolphins swam along side the boat, bow riding, for 20 minutes.

Gordon spent his childhood on the Isle of Mull and pursued a career in wildlife filmmaking as an adult, venturing to Sierra Leone, Venezuela and Brazil amongst others. His work as a film-maker has seen him produce programmes for the BBC's 'Natural World' and 'Big Cat Diary' series and for MTV and the Discovery Channel.

While searching for whales, sharks, dolphins, porpoises and seabirds around the Isle of Mull, Gordon will be on hand to share his wildlife expertise with passengers and talk about the wealth of marine wildlife found in the area where he grew up. Travelers will also enjoy a stop over on their very own private paradise at the Cairns of Coll, a desert island with pristine sands.

Sea Life Surveys, a family run business based on the Isle of Mull, was established over 25 years ago and was the UK's first and is now the most experienced whale, dolphin, porpoise and shark watching operator in the UK. They operate whale watching cruises and charters around the Hebrides for wildlife adventurers. By joining a Sea Life Surveys cruise, passengers contribute to invaluable marine research, helping scientists and conservationists understand the changing oceans.

Skipper James Fairbairns of Sea Life Surveys says: "It is really exciting to have Gordon Buchanan join us on the cruises. It is a fantastic opportunity for passengers to get to meet the man in person and we hope that people will flock from all around to be a part of the experience. We have had a good start to the season with early sightings of dolphins and sharks and it will be great to see what other marine wildlife we can spot with Gordon onboard the Sula Beag."

Ten per cent of each ticket price goes to the local charity, The Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust which was chosen by Gordon himself. The charity is dedicated to enhancing knowledge and understanding of Scotland's cetaceans and the Hebridean marine environment.

The cruise has limited availability with only 30 places per trip on the Sunday 24 July and Sunday 31 July so it is advised to book early to avoid disappointment.
