Website Builder Wix Releases New Version: Sleek Page Manager, Password Protected Pages & More

Wix is free online software for the creation of quality Flash websites. Now users can add password-protected pages to their sites, and manage them via an improved Page Manager feature.

Released this week, the latest version of Wix.com's free website builder is stocked with powerful features that make creating a Flash website even easier. Highlights of this latest version of the popular website builder include adding password-protected pages to one's site, a completely renovated Page Manager and design elements like glossy Donate buttons.

For those not already familiar with Wix, it is an online platform built with a drag & drop GUI. Small business owners, artists, entrepreneurs and anyone else in need of a website can turn to Wix - saving time and money that would be required to learn how to code or hire a programmer. The product lets you make a Flash website with a simple, user-friendly process. The average online user can make a free website from scratch, or with free, professionally-designed templates. Business and Photography templates are among the most popular, which users can tweak by adding or replacing images, text, pages and an impressive range of other design elements. Premium packages are offered for users who wish to connect to their own domains and gain advanced features.

The company is extremely tuned in to its users' needs as inspiration for product development. The Wix WishList is a forum where users can submit suggestions and feature requests.

Wix' Founder & CEO, Avishai Avrahami, comments: "We're thrilled to finally offer our users the ability to create password-protected pages. This is something that's been requested intensely throughout all channels of communication with our users; it's very satisfying to deliver something of such value, at no additional cost to users."

Now, for the first time ever, users can add pages to their websites that require passwords for entry. This is an exciting feature for users with sites offering services only to certain visitors. For instance, secure client areas or photographers with pages containing restricted-access photos. Users with personal websites containing private sections now have increased security over who can access these pages.

This feature is part of a newly designed Page Manager that sits inside Wix' colorful interface and is available to all users. It is now easier than ever to manage your site's pages, add pages to one's website and reorganize your site's structure. The password-protection feature is included in the Page Manager's sleek new drop-down menu.

Another new feature in this version is the Donate button. Users can drag and drop pre-designed buttons to their websites and link them directly to their PayPal accounts - allowing site visitors to make donations easily. This is great for non-profit organizations to promote their causes and easily collect funds through their Wix websites.

Avrahami says, "It's a version with features that are going to enhance the design and functionality for many, many users' websites."
