Volusia Manufacturers Association - Increase Your Bottom-Line through International Trade!
The Volusia Manufacturers Association General Meeting for June 2010 will be discussing the ins-and-outs of International Trade.
Online, June 9, 2010 (Newswire.com) - At the end of the World Trade Month (May 2010), more small businesses are exploring emerging global markets in an effort to open up avenues for opportunity and growth. Many of these small businesses have served only domestic markets, but with the struggling U.S. economy, businesses have had to open their minds and doors to new prospects. Per the International Trade Administration, currently, about 95% of the world's consumers live outside the U.S. borders, and many global economies are growing significantly in many parts of the world. Therefore, the time is right for U.S. businesses to expand their markets. With the expansion of business to global communities, there are many compliance items to observe. The Market Access and Compliance (MAC) group, a unit of the International Trade Administration, works for these U.S. businesses by:
• increasing access to foreign markets for American firms and workers and
• ensuring that foreign nations comply with trade agreements signed with the United States.
• MAC identifies and overcomes foreign barriers to U.S. exports, and enables U.S. firms to better compete in foreign markets.
• MAC also helps U.S. exporters, especially small and medium-sized firms receive the full benefits of trade agreements.
Common international trade problems that newly global business may encounter include are:
• tariff and customs barriers
• intellectual property protection
• standards, testing, laboratory, and certification barriers
• rules of origin
• government procurement contract barriers
• service barriers
• excessive government requirements
• excessive testing or licensing fees
• investment barriers
• bribery
• Payment for services or goods
The Volusia Manufacturers Association's General Meeting for June will be discussing International Trade, with the topic of "Global Trade: You Scored the International Sale-Now How to Be Sure You Get Paid". The meeting will be held on 6/24/10 at 5:00 P.M. at the Indigo Lakes Golf Club located at 312 Indigo Drive in Daytona Beach, FL. The speaker for this event is Kenneth S. Nadler. Mr. Nadler is a Vice President at Fifth Third Bank, where he is an International Trade Banking Specialist, helping exporters and importers. Mr. Nadler has been active in a number of trade organizations and is currently a member of the Central Florida Chapter of the District Export Council and a member of the Board of Directors of Florida Export Finance Corporation. Mr. Nadler is also a past Chairman of the Board of FCIB-NACM Inc, a North American and European association of international credit executives and former President of the 1245 Credit Club, a networking organization of International credit, banking and insurance executives in New York. He was also a board of directors member of NEXCO, a New York City based international trade association that sponsors monthly seminars providing pertinent and timely information to importers, exporters, freight forwarders, bankers, attorneys, accountants, and other professional engaged in global trade.
"Local Daytona Beach Manufacturers will gain a wealth of information about global marketing in this Volusia Manufacturers Association meeting," said Jayne Fifer, President/CEO of the Volusia Manufacturers Association. "With the current challenges Volusia County manufacturers are facing, these businesses must expand their markets to keep their businesses growing, which in turn allows for the creation of jobs that Americans so desperately need."
Although international trade has always played an important role in the U.S. economy, its place is destined to become even more prominent now. President Barack Obama recently announced the National Export Initiative during his State of the Union Address on January 27, 2010 which calls for doubling U.S. exports in the next five years.
