Volunteers Reach Thousands With the Truth About Drugs
Committed to drug prevention throughout the year, volunteers from the Brussels branch of the Churches of Scientology for Europe marked International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking with a series of drug prevention events that flanked the UN's message for the year—"Listen first."
Brussels, Belgium, July 7, 2016 (Newswire.com) - This year, the United Nations emphasized drug prevention in their motto for International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking: “Listen First.” It urges youth to find out the truth about drugs before experimenting with them.
Members of Belgium’s Say No to Drugs Association, active in drug prevention throughout the year, carried out a series of information campaigns in honor of the UN day.
June 25, volunteers in their signature aqua T-shirts bicycled through Brussels, handing out copies of The Truth About Drugs booklets and placing copies in shops all along their route.
The following day, they set up a booth at the Ottertrotter music festival in the town of Mechelen. Another team headed for the seaside, bringing their drug prevention campaign to the beach at Ostend. And a third group joined the French No to Drugs, Yes to Life Association in Lille, France, where they handed out copies of their booklets to fans at the Euro 2016 football match.
All told, they handed out 30,000 copies of The Truth About Drugs booklets, providing vital information on the most commonly abused substances.
