Uttar Pradesh Woos Bangalore's IT Industry
Online, December 9, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in association with the Government of Uttar Pradesh (UP) organized an interactive session "Destination IT: Uttar Pradesh the next big Investment Opportunity" in Bangalore to promote UP as an attractive investment destination for IT/ITeS companies by providing congenial, industry friendly and proactive climate.
Addressing a gathering of IT/ITeS professionals in the city, Mr. Abhishek Mishra, Minister for Science & Technology, Govt. of Uttar Pradesh said that the Uttar Pradesh is firmly committed to advancing the IT industry in the state and will leave no stone unturned in helping and promoting investment in the state. He called on the IT Industry in Karnataka to venture into UP and capitalize on the advantages that the state has to offer.
He said that Uttar Pradesh has immense potential to emerge as one of the preferred destination for IT / ITeS industry. The availability of numerous technical and manpower centres of excellence makes the Uttar Pradesh ideally suitable for setting up of IT industry. Uttar Pradesh has large base of skilled manpower graduating from 700 professional institutions half of which imparting engineering and management courses both at graduate and postgraduate level, making it an ideal destination for knowledge-based sectors. Mr. Abhishek Mishra reiterated that UP was well on its way to meeting its 2017 mandate i.e. to be the 2nd largest state in terms of economy in India.
Mr. G S Naveen Kumar, Special Secretary (IT&E), Govt. of Uttar Pradesh said that one of the objectives to this exercise was to encourage companies to look beyond Noida. He said that there are several tier II and III cities in the state that hold vast untapped potential and the IT industry can greatly benefit by investing in these areas. Speaking on Uttar Pradesh's IT Vision Mr. Kumar stated that the government of Uttar Pradesh is committed to providing congenial, industry friendly and proactive climate along with assistance in setting up state of the art infrastructure like IT city, IT Parks etc. in the state.
Lucknow is ranked among the top 10 cities in India for fastest job creation. It has also emerged as a "Science City", and numerous national laboratories, premier medical colleges, universities along with engineering management institutes. Agra also has emerged as preferred investment location for leading industrial houses recently. Agra stands apart as a premier tourist destination with its world class infrastructure and proximity to IT hubs e.g. Noida and Gurgaon.
Uttar Pradesh has immense potential to emerge as one of the most economically developed states in India. Uttar Pradesh is currently focusing on developing necessary infrastructure, development of human capital, proactive engagement with investors and effective policy implementation so as to create a conducive ambience for IT industry.
