Upper Arkansas Tech Sector Partnership is Now Called South Central Tech

Colorado State's Second Tech Sector Builds on Success, Rebrands with a Focus on Extending Scope and Reach

Fremont Economic Development Corporation, a 501c6 private not-for-profit focused on economic development in Fremont County and Central Colorado, today announced the renaming of the Region 13 tech sector partnership to, "South Central Tech." Region 13 encompasses Fremont, Custer, Chaffee, and Lake Counties, and impacts surrounding rural communities with its program support. The sector is primarily lead by volunteer conveners in FEDC.

Colorado is home to many sector partnerships, which are supported by the Governor's Office through the Colorado Workforce Development Council. Sector partnerships help communities coalesce business needs and unite public partners in supporting those needs. The tech sector partnership in this region began in March 2018 and has been an important partnership led by businesses and supported by a host of public partners including education, workforce, economic development, regional/local government, and community non-profits.

With our sector program growth, expanded regional participation, and increased visibility outside the state of Colorado, the sector leads have agreed to rebrand as South Central Colorado Tech Sector Partnership, or South Central Tech. South Central Colorado is home to a growing #ruraltech community. "As organizations and individuals harness the power of digital technologies, we are experiencing firsthand the benefits #ruraltech can bring," said Ryan Stevens, City Administrator, Cañon City. "The change signals the growth and success of our three year effort and provides greater flexibility to partner regionally."

Membership in the sector partnership is free and open to all in the region interested in supporting a flourishing #ruraltech ecosystem in South Central Colorado. South Central Tech's new website allows members to subscribe to a mailing list to receive news and updates. Member gatherings were ceased in 2020 due to COVID and will resume in May.
