University Dining will open a full-service food court on N.C. State's Centennial Campus in March 2011. The food-service unit will be built near the Biomanufacturing Training and Education Center (BTEC) located at 850 Oval Drive.

The facility will feature a Chick-fil-A and a rotating menu of freshly prepared items that will include a salad bar, deli, pasta, stir-fry and more. It will also have an indoor seating area for 225 and outdoor seating for 60.

The facility will be named Innovation Cafe, a name that was chosen from a contest held throughout Centennial Campus in early December. Innovation Cafe was selected by Randy Lait, director of dining services, from over one-hundred and fifty entries. Xiaoming Feng, executive consulting engineer at ABB Inc, was the Centennial employee behind the name.

"Innovation Cafe is a fitting name for the facility and the naming competition was a great way to get Centennial Campus involved in the process," said Lait. "We look forward to the facility and providing Centennial with a variety of food options until the permanent facility is constructed."

The facility will help bridge the gap between now and the opening of permanent dining space that is part of a student apartment complex that will be constructed on the Oval by 2014. The permanent space will feature 15,000 square feet of dining services.
