Optical Image Technology's (OIT) Jim Thumma will join representatives from Unitrin Direct® Auto and Home Insurance, ibml, and The Association for Work Process Improvement (TAWPI) for a panel presentation entitled Improving ROI by Thinking Outside the Box: Unconventional Uses for a Conventional ECM System at IASA 2010. The session takes place on Tuesday, June 8 at 9:15 a.m. during the June 6-9 conference in Grapevine, Texas.

The panelists will examine the way organizations leverage enterprise content management (ECM) technology and discuss why the typical approach leads many implementations to fall short of their potential. Their recommendations are designed to help insurers reevaluate their existing systems and achieve superior process improvement. The benefits of optimized document scanning, data capture, workflow, and process integration will also be discussed.

Jerel Titus of Unitrin Direct, a 2010 Celent Model Insurer Award winner; Mark Brousseau of The Association for Work Process Improvement (TAWPI); and Jim Bunn of ibml will join Mr. Thumma to comprise the panel. The session will offer best practices, with panelists sharing "lessons learned" from their collective experience about how to improve the return on investment for ECM technology. Attendees also will have the opportunity to share the ECM pitfalls they have encountered and pose their toughest challenges to the panelists for consideration. Anyone responsible for planning, managing or implementing any aspect of Life/Health, Property/Casualty or Health insurance, accounting, finance or technology should attend this event.

Quotes

"Many insurers believe they're using ECM to its fullest capabilities. Yet if they're only using ECM for storing, archiving, and retrieving information, they are barely tapping into its potential. Unitrin Direct truly leverages ECM technology to the fullest, making the company a model for other insurers. Our panel discussion will help attendees to understand the steps they must take to advance their ECM implementations. We'll help them take a holistic view of their businesses, offering strategies to help them integrate data capture and workflow with multiple technologies. Attendees will walk away with ideas that will help them to see dramatically improved efficiency, revenue, and customer satisfaction in return for their ECM investment." - Jim Thumma, vice president of sales, marketing and professional services at Optical Image Technology

"Organizations must take a holistic view of their document-driven business processes ― starting at the point of capture ― if they want to maximize business results. ECM can drive significant improvement, but business executives need to rethink the way they automate tasks if they want to get maximum performance from their technology investments. Operational excellence is as important to success as technology." - Jim Bunn, national business development manager, ibml
