.uk reaches 8 million

Online, December 2, 2009 (Newswire.com) - In November 2009 the .uk register passed another significant milestone when it reached eight million registrations.

The 8 millionth domain name lambethsuperhomes.org.uk was registered by Lambeth Super Homes, based in London.

This is yet another indicator of continued strong growth in the .uk Top Level Domain, with one million domain names having been registered since August 2008.

Nominet's Domain Name Industry report 2009, showed that consumers trust .uk sites, and that when browsing they are more likely to choose a .uk site over any other suffix. When asked, 77% of people said that they would click on a .uk address rather than a .com address when searching for information online.
