Triniti and Mercury Collaborate to Present "Concerto in Eight Courses: A Choreographed Celebration of Music, Food & Wine"

Mercury's orchestra ensemble, under the direction of Maestro Antoine Plante, will perform music choreographed to an eight-course dinner and wine tasting menu created by Triniti Executive Chef Ryan Hildebrand and Sommelier Fred Zennati Sunday June 1

Houston - In the first-ever collaboration of its kind, Mercury's 15-musician orchestra ensemble, under the direction of Maestro Antoine Plante, will perform perfectly-paired music choreographed to an eight-course dinner and wine tasting menu created by Triniti Executive Chef Ryan Hildebrand and Sommelier Fred Zennati. The event, which takes place at the restaurant on Sunday evening, June 10, 2012, promises to be a feast for all senses.

"It's interesting and also challenging," says Plante, who has met with Hildebrand to taste menu items and discuss various attributes of each dish as it relates to music. "The task is to select musical pieces that will address the nuances of each dish, whether it calls for contrasting themes to address different flavors, something with weight and drama for a heartier dish, or a slow lyrical melody for something sweet. If the course is crisp and clean, the music will reflect that too." Each musical piece will evoke a particular vision, mood and/or feel specific to that menu item. According to Plante, the audience should expect to hear selections from Handel, Vivaldi and others.

"What I am envisioning, and hoping will happen, is that everyone will let loose and have fun," says Hildebrand. "It will be Triniti and Mercury, finding inspiration in a craft other than our own." Hildebrand says he's looking forward to Triniti's chefs working in tandem with Mercury's musicians in executing an unforgettably exquisite dinner. The duo plan to collaborate on similar events to introduce each new seasonal menu.

Dinner is $220 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Forty percent of all ticket sales will benefit Mercury by supporting the orchestra's concerts and vital music education programs. Seating is limited. For reservations or additional information, call 713.527.9090 or visit trinitirestaurant.com.
