To The Beet Of A New Family

A language school on the south coast has joined a select affiliation of only ten schools across the country to share good practice and increase quality for students.

A language school in Dorset is unique in the region after joining a new affiliation of select schools across England.

The English Network, also known as TEN, hopes to create a family of like-minded schools to pool their combined 400 years experience and improve quality for students.

The nearest TEN schools to Bournemouth's BEET Language Centre are in Sussex, Avon and Devon and membership of the group is now closed.

"TEN provides the perfect environment for improving quality," said Clive Barrow, managing director at BEET.

"It is both exciting and enriching to work alongside such brilliant schools."

The ten schools already know each other after working together informally for many years in areas such as best practice in administration, academic and general management and student services.

"We've already seen the benefits of TEN," said Clive.

"Staff from our International Teaching & Training College have spent a day at ELC Brighton looking at how to run CLIL courses.

"And I've visited ELC Bristol and Wimbledon School. I hope more visits of key staff to member schools will be made during the coming months and years, to see how they operate and to share experiences."

TEN is now in the process of developing an agent strategy.

Members are planning a London launch later this year as well as mini-launches internationally.

TEN's principals say they have benefited hugely from membership of groups such as English UK, IALC and Quality English - in which they plan to remain - but feel The English Network offers unique support.

"Co-operation, trust and openness between members are the key features of The English Network," said Clive.

"Dedication is the driving force and the result is that the client can feel totally confident in their choice of study destination."
