"The Portable Gurney Hammock": Supplies Instant Access Conveyance in Emergency Situations
LOS ANGELES, CA, May 29, 2017 (Newswire.com) - Attention, campers, hikers, hunters and other outdoor recreationists as well as responders to disaster situations. The need to transport an ill or injured individual from remote locations and/or disaster scenes is made simpler with this device. It is as critical to have close at hand as a first aid kit. The Portable Gurney Hammock is a fully functional, compact and lightweight hammock that is specially designed to also serve as a gurney-type conveyance. Carried by two individuals when in use, the design intent is to provide an easily carried and assembled, readily available stretcher for a sick or injured party in the event of an outdoor emergency. There also is a deluxe, two-wheeled model requiring only one person for transporting a patient.
The hammock is fashioned from a durable weather-proof nylon, canvas, or similar material in a rectangular form of interconnected webbing interspersed with one-inch (1”) gaps along the unit. It is sized appropriately to accommodate users of any stature. The Portable Gurney Hammock measures approximately 7’L x 3’W x 6” D. To transform the hammock into a ready-made gurney, the system includes a selection of aluminum-based rods, integrally attached to the sides and end of the material by sliding the interconnecting rods through the webbing. Providing a secure, stable framework for the Portable Gurney Hammock, these “side rails” extend several inches on each side of the hammock material to serve as hand grips for two (2) people, one at each end, to carry the unit and the injured person. The handles are equipped with a built-in LED flashlight if necessary to use in dark areas. The Portable Gurney Hammock comes complete with up to five (5) horizontal straps, which serve to secure an injured individual on the unit. Televised test marketing has recently been completed indicating strong consumer interest in the Portable Gurney Hammock.
The Patent Pending Portable Gurney Hammock was invented by Paul Bryant of Los Angeles, CA who said, “This is designed to be carried at all times when outdoors hiking or camping. It is compact and easy to store when not in use. It works for EMTs, first responders and military personnel equally as well as for the hunter, hiker or other type outdoor enthusiast.”
