The Milwaukee Group Discusses Internship Program

The Milwaukee Group leaders share case studies showing that participating in an internship program during college can help students secure a good career upon graduation.

While plenty of anecdotal evidence exists that participating in internships during high school and college years can help students land a job upon graduation, it can also be valuable to look at specific case studies of individuals and internship programs that have led people into long-term careers. The Milwaukee Group runs exactly such an internship program and many of their interns go on to be leaders within the organization.

“Internship programs are great for our recruiting efforts and ability to attract and retain top talent,” shared Dan, the President of The Milwaukee Group. “We work with lots of interns over the course of their college careers and can make offers to those whom we see have the right mind-set to achieve significant success in our organization.”

"Internship programs are great for our recruiting efforts and ability to attract and retain top talent.

Dan, President

“Our people are the source of our long-term success, so it’s clear that investing in them early on helps our company,” continued Dan. “Bringing in college interns and giving them work experience also helps us stay on top of the latest trends and technology and be experts at marketing to a younger demographic.”

The Milwaukee Group Internship Program Offers Significant Training

When a college intern joins The Milwaukee Group for a summer or a semester, they have access to much of the same training and coaching available to full-time team members. All interns are able to take advantage of the skill-building benefits that come with being on the team.

“Getting exposure to business basics early gives our interns the ability to succeed in any job they pursue after graduation,” said Dan. “No matter whether they work for another company or stay with The Milwaukee Group, the basics of sales and marketing, time management, organization, public speaking, and leadership will serve them well. Our program also offers one-on-one coaching so interns who are motivated to succeed can really dig down into these skills and make great strides in mastering them.”

“We look forward to the new interns every year because it also lets our team hone their coaching abilities,” finished Dan. “It’s especially exciting when, after graduation, a previous intern decides to join The Milwaukee Group and then gets promoted into leadership. We frequently promote from within, so everyone knows the business from the ground up.”
