Sandy Toes Jewelry got its start in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The owner, designer, and creator, Lisa Rippingale Robertson, was a stay-at-home mom who has been making art since she was a small child. Her mother is an artist, and Lisa and her brother would go with her to arts and craft shows, where her mother sold her paintings. Lisa’s father is an electronic engineer, and he would sit her down with long strips of colorful wire to entertain her when she came to visit him at work. Somehow, the influences of both of her parents combined to create her love for metalwork!
The name, Sandy Toes Jewelry, came from her children. They were very young when she and her husband moved to the Outer Banks. Naturally, there was a lot of sand in their house, and the sandy toes ruled the roost! Hence, the name! Once their youngest son went to kindergarten, she was able to spend more time creating her jewelry.
Preferring clean lines, Lisa creates her unique, feminine, swirly jewelry out of sterling silver, gold-filled, 14k gold, and base metal wire. She hand forms and solders each piece individually, making every piece special. She accents her swirly, intricate designs with natural stone cabochons, faceted stones, and beads, using different metals and techniques to create eye catching textures in her pieces. All of her jewelry is uniquely distinctive and perfect for any occasion.
