The Kielbasa Diaries, The Butter Lamb Lies Down on Broadway
Online, September 28, 2013 (Newswire.com) - THE KIELBASA DIARIES - THE BUTTER LAMB LIES DOWN ON BROADWAY premiere production written/directed by Steve Roylance and presented by Road Less Traveled Productions. Not since 1976, has there been a play on Buffalo's East Side. A single act, site based play that brings culture back to Broadway in Buffalo.
"This event is part of the Broadway Market's 125th Anniversary celebration. "said Sophie Baj, President of Friends of the Broadway Market. "This project was conceived and crafted during the 2013 Easter season, and is an entertaining one-act play based on a compilation of amusing and wistful interviews conducted with real patrons of the Broadway Market."
The production mirrors the changing times and personal reflections of the Market throughout the decades, and why it remains such an endearing and enduring piece of Buffalo history.
"I think the most exciting part of this project is that 95% of the dialog comes from people's actual memories and stories about the Broadway Market. Usually the history of public spaces is relegated to what the building was used for or maybe the architecture of the building. But rarely do people talk about the people who used that public building, and why it was so important to them." stated writer and director Steve Roylance. " I think this play will remind people why the Broadway Market is such a special place to so many people and why we need to keep it a special place. Hopefully people who see it will remember its a great place to visit all year."
Destined to become an audience favorite and annual event, the fun begins at 2:30 pm in the afternoon with a Red Carpet walk with the play's cast members, and the play beginning promptly at 3 p.m. There will be a Polish style VIP reception at 4 pm, immediately following the play! Easy to find with plenty of FREE, covered and secured parking. Admission is $25 and includes the reception. Space is limited so get your tickets early.
Established in 1888, the Broadway Public Market originally served thousands of Eastern European immigrants who populated the city's Eastside. Although the Market has undergone-numerous changes over time, the concept of selling fresh, exotic and unusual products has remained unchanged since the Market's inception. The Friends of the Broadway Market is a non-profit organization to promote and sustain Buffalo, NY's historic Market.
