The Healthcare Africa Show Hosted by Dr. Elvis Ngyia Addresses Healthcare Issues in Africa
DALLAS, May 30, 2019 (Newswire.com) - According to the World Health Organization, Africa makes up about one-quarter of the world’s population but accounts for a disproportionately high portion of world disease burden (https://www.who.int/bulletin/africanhealth/en). Over the last two decades, a decrease in the rate of communicable diseases in Africa has coincided with an increase in the diagnoses and fatalities from non-communicable diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and cancer. Projected population growth shows Africa leading the world and will continue at that pace as we move towards the end of this century (https://www.un.org/en/sections/issues-depth/population); Meaning that increasingly, Africa will become a huge player in determining world affairs, especially in business, economics and finance. There is no better time to pay attention to the health of Africa. The Healthcare Africa Show will do just that.

The show has three solutions-oriented segments: (1) What is the health care problem? (2) Why is it still a problem? And (3) How can we fix it? Dr. Ngyia highlights the need for the new show, stating that "It is time we harness the power of enhanced and modern communication systems, including social media, to improve health care in our villages, cities and countries in Africa. I believe we, this generation, have to make a shift in thinking and sacrifice for our people. We have to be at the front lines of finding solutions to health care problems in Africa because no one would really solve our problems for us.”
The Healthcare Africa show will be available to reach people in Africa, particularly those in Sub-Saharan Africa who suffer disproportionately from preventable deaths caused by diseases like malaria, typhoid, diabetes, and all forms of cancers. Each show would have a specific health care problem, followed by a discussion by a content expert, after which solutions would be examined. Dr. Elvis Ngyia who will be hosting the show explains his team's commitment to finding solutions to health care problems by saying, “As we prepare for each show, we ask ourselves a simple question; how would this show move health care in Africa forward?” The show will also be used as a platform to showcase the work that other individuals and organizations have been doing to improve health care in Africa.
