The Green Room Opens At Amani Beach Hotel, Tanzania

New shop opens at Amani Beach Hotel stocking a bespoke range of products inspired by the natural environment and sustainable living.

Amani Beach Hotel and The Green Room have come together to create a very special and unique gift shop for guests. The shared philosophy behind the venture was to bring the unspoilt and spectacular environment to life by stocking items that embody sunshine, sea and nature while, at the same time, supporting local artists and crafts people.

Many of the items have been designed by Elmarie, owner of The Green Room, using materials found at Amani Beach to create one-off pieces that allow guests to take a little piece of paradise home with them. The seaside mobiles made with drift wood and shells are ideal for hanging on a terrace or garden and the perfect reminder of a stay in paradise!

All items have been collected in a sustainable manner to ensure we do not have a negative impact on the beautiful but fragile coastal eco-system. Within the shop, we also have a leaflet to educate guests about items to avoid buying whilst visiting Tanzania to encourage responsible tourism.

Other contributors to the new range include the wonderful Turtle hatchling print and postcard by local artist Sarah Markes, recycled items from Africraft and recycled bags and kanga items from local company Moyo.

For Elmarie, the new shop represents a special space: "Amani Beach has always been one of my favourite places and somewhere I love to escape to at the weekend. In fact, it is one of my sources of inspiration for The Green Room and I'm hoping the new shop will give me another excuse to visit more often!"

Michelle, Marketing Manager at Amani Beach Hotel, said "We're delighted to be working with The Green Room. The partnership fits perfectly with our on-going aim to promote sustainable tourism here in Tanzania. We're so happy with all the products that we're now trying to resist the temptation of buying all the stock for ourselves!"
