The Brick's Holiday Pop-Up Experience Comes to Fort McMurray
Edmonton, AB, December 15, 2016 (Newswire.com) - Today, The Brick (www.thebrick.com) released its first ever Christmas experience video - the Fort McMurray Holiday Pop-Up featuring a temporary Christmas tree lot with free trees and wreaths and an extra surprise for one hard hit Fort McMurray family.
The three-and-a-half minute video was captured on Dec. 3 in Fort McMurray. The Brick built a pop-up Christmas tree lot in the parking lot at Frank Lacroix Arena in the fire-ravaged Beacon Hill neighbourhood and handed out nearly 200 free Christmas trees and 100 free wreaths to residents. There were also free photos with Santa and free refreshments provided by local business.
We have been part of the Fort McMurray community since 1982 and this was our way of helping to make a difficult holiday season a little easier and a little brighter for our friends and neighbours.
Dave Freeman, President, The Brick
“We have been part of the Fort McMurray community since 1982 and this was our way of helping to make a difficult holiday season a little easier and a little brighter for our friends and neighbours,” said Dave Freeman, President of The Brick. “They have been through so much this year; we wanted to give them something that would put a smile on their faces.”
Once the pop-up packed up, The Brick paid a visit to the Cruz family - Allan and Ivy and their two daughters. The Cruz family purchased their first ever home last year in Beacon Hill. It was completely destroyed in the fire and the family lost everything. They’re spending Christmas in a temporary residence while Habitat For Humanity builds their new home.
On arrival, The Brick’s Fort McMurray team delivered dozens of gifts for the Cruz family - including gift cards, iPads, and a 55” TV - as well as a Brick Gift Card that will cover the cost of furnishing their new home when it is ready in the spring.
“When we heard about the Cruz family and what they had gone through, we wanted to do something extra special,” Freeman said. “I want to thank Habitat For Humanity for partnering with us on this, all the local partners who helped us on the ground in Fort McMurray, and the amazing Brick team in Fort McMurray for coming together and making this happen.”
