The Best Jazz Lounge NYC To Re-emerge With Even Better NYC Events

Patrons who thought that Harlem's Lenox Lounge was no more will be greatly surprised to know that it's to re-package and come back even better than before.

Tourists from around the world and New York residents have long enjoyed Harlem's Lenox Lounge. NYC is well known for having an amazing nightlife, including various clubs, bars, and lounges, but the Lenox Lounge always stood out among jazz fans and was frequented by many popular artists, even serving as a significant part of the movie Shaft. Having remained at its location in the infamous Harlem since 1939, a rent increase in 2012 threatened the lounge's existence.

Though Lenox Lounge lovers were worried they would no longer be able to enjoy their favorite hangout and NYC events it hosted, owner Alvin Reed managed to save this historic site by retaining rights to the name and signage. However, the higher rent at the old location forced a move from its present spot to 333 Lenox Ave, which is only about two blocks down.

Instead of shutting its doors forever, Lenox Lounge will be making a huge comeback. It is projected that the lounge will be open for the summer of 2013. The new location may prove to work out better for patrons than the first, as it provides space for the lounge to stretch out three stories tall. Those who loved visiting Lenox Lounge in the old building can still enjoy the same style and feel that it had before, as the legendary Zebra Room is to be recreated in the new location.

The old Lenox Lounge, located at 288 Lenox Ave, hosted performances from many jazz greats, including Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and Billie Holiday. This helped to attract many well-known patrons including Malcolm X, The Renaissance Writers, James Baldwin, and Langston Hughes. While those who visit the new location will not have the benefit of being in the same place that these great stars once enjoyed, the new Lenox Lounge is set to be host to some great things in the future.

Tourists who never had the chance can still experience the greatness of Lenox Lounge in their quest to discover this great lounge NYC hosts. NYC happens to be the home of several famous lounges.
