The Benefits of State Investments in Health Care

The NDIS and CPL will give people with disabilities the opportunity to contribute far more to the state, and federal, economy.

The rollout of a new state-driven funding system for those Australians living with a disability has been touted as revolutionary. But there is more to the story behind this new structure. Research in to the economics of health care and care for those living with a disability has repeatedly proven the positive outcomes of investing in health care.

For one, essential services such as these provide a necessary community employment boost in smaller towns. People living with disabilities are not exclusively located in larger cities – there is much care to be provided in more rural regions, where work can potentially be more difficult to find. Providing a state structure of service here provides employment opportunities for caregivers, aid workers, technicians, and technology specialists.

The care offered by disability support organisations like CPL through the NDIS has the added benefit of taking some of the duty of care off of family members and friends. The time and effort involved in caring for a member of a family or a close friend living with a disability can serve to hurt their own economic productivity. Services, such as those provided by CPL, allow them to retain a semi-normal schedule, and continue with their professional lives.

The NDIS and CPL will give people with disabilities the opportunity to contribute far more to the state, and federal, economy. Many of our clients have pursued careers in a variety of areas, including client care and technology, gaming and media, and writing.
