The Atonement Academy Honors Choir to Appear in the Road Home at Carnegie Hall
SAN ANTONIO , March 11, 2019 (Newswire.com) - The Atonement Academy Director of Music, Jesus De Hoyos, is proud to announce the invitation and acceptance for the Honors Choir to appear in The Road Home at Carnegie Hall, March 18th, 2019 in New York City.
The Honors Choir is a mixed ensemble of 9th-12th graders who audition at the end of each school year. They compete in the Large School Texas Music Educators All-State audition process, as a 1A school, placing 10 students in one of the Texas All-State Ensembles over the past few years. Of the 34 students who make up the Honors Choir, The Atonement Academy had 18 students earn a chair in the TMEA Region 29 Mixed Choir this year. This past year the choir competed and placed first overall in the Alamo Music Showcase competition in Houston.
James Growdon, Head of School, shares the school’s philosophy, “Our students are fully immersed in the music of the Quadrivium, where they come to appreciate truth, beauty, and goodness. Our splendid music program serves as the apostolate and charism of The Atonement Academy. We are so blessed to have our choir perform at Carnegie Hall, a stage that has set the standard for musical excellence.”
The Atonement Academy located in San Antonio, Texas, opened its doors on August 15th, 1994, and is a parochial school in the Personal Ordinariate of The Chair of Saint Peter. It is associated with Our Lady of The Atonement Catholic Church. The Atonement Academy is designated as a “Blue Ribbon School of Excellence” by the Department of Education.
