In an effort to create an easier method of charging the battery on the Volt, they came up with the wireless charging pad. The charging pad makes it simple to restore the battery to a full charge. All you have to do is park the Volt above the pad and charging begins automatically without the user having to plug anything in or push any buttons. Momentum Dynamics chose to use the Volt over other electric vehicles simply because it is one of the most tech-savvy applications out there.
As of now, the aftermarket system is expected to go for around $10,000 but hopefully that number will come down in the future if it is released to the general public. For now, Momentum Dynamics is targeting commercial and fleet vehicles because of limited competition and easier implementation.
