TCI Team Returns From Quarterly Leadership Conference

The TCI management team recently sent several associates to a quarterly leadership conference. This national event was a useful networking opportunity, according to Nick G., the company's president.

Event-based skill development and relationship building has always formed the core of TCIs approach to human resources. Nick stated that he likes to regularly send his team members to conferences and workshops because they are great learning opportunities – and they add some variety to people’s schedules.

“While we hardly have monotonous work here, I do think travel offers a bit of excitement,” he explained. “Conferences and other business trips are really energizing. They offer the chances to experience different cultures, even when it’s just another city in the states. Personally, my favorite part of travel is all of the new foods to try.”

Conferences in particular offer talks, workshops, and other learning experiences. Nick indicated that his associates not only had the chance to listen to the ideas of some of the foremost individuals in their field, they also were able to share their own thoughts. He added that networking and discussing ideas is one of the fastest ways to hone a strategic mind-set.

“People need to take chances,” he elaborated. “One way to do this is to simply speak up and share ideas. Conferences and other industry events are great ways for my branding specialists to do this. It’s all about networking.”

Nick also pointed out that travel is a great way to relax. Even though the trips can sometimes be physically tiring, they offer mental breaks from regular work. This helps the TCI team members unwind a little while they get to know each other and their colleague from other offices.

TCIs President Discusses Networking

According to Nick, networking is one of the most important aspects of travel for TCI. He stated that the simple act of getting to know others leads to plentiful opportunities. The associates all have the ability to meet and greet colleagues they would never know otherwise. This can lead to some powerful new relationships and opportunities to collaborate.

“Of course, TCI benefits, too,” Nick added. “We have found a lot of new campaign prospects through networking. In fact we recently started representing a new product thanks to our team’s efforts to meet new people.”

The secret to successful networking, according to Nick, is to focus on getting to know people rather than trying to sell to them. “People tend to know when you have an ulterior motive. If you are genuine, they’re probably going to respond in kind,” he concluded.
