TCI Enhances Company Culture During the Holiday Season

The president of TCI discussed how company leaders maintain and fortify corporate culture during the holidays. He also offered his thoughts on why holiday parties are important.

“Here at TCI, we understand that the holidays can be a hectic and stressful time for any professional,” stated Nick G., the firm’s president. “We do our best to help our individuals get things done so they can enjoy themselves throughout the season. I think it’s possible to enhance our team atmosphere while we encourage stronger collaboration.”

One way Nick and the TCI executive team encourage strong performance during the holiday rush is by giving their associates time to unwind. At several points throughout the season, the president uses the lunch hour to give his team members a much-needed breather. He explained, “Once or twice during every holiday season, I like to order lunch from one of our favorite restaurants and have everyone eat together in the office. No one works during this time, and there are no meetings scheduled. We enjoy a memorable meal away from the stresses of the day.”

"I'm a big believer in the team-building benefits of holiday gatherings,"

Nick also tries to step in when he sees signs of stress. “When things get busy, you see people trying to push through it, and they aren’t performing at peak levels,” he said. “I like to check in and see what our team members need so I can help them address the overwhelming demands that they face. Even if it’s a quick walk outside with a few colleagues, I want our associates to have a way to relieve stress so they can get back into a productive groove.”

TCI’s President Explains Why Holiday Parties Matter

One of the best ways to bolster company morale during the holidays is through office parties. “I’m a big believer in the team-building benefits of holiday gatherings,” added the president. “At TCI, our organization looks forward to blowing off some steam after the final weeks of the year. Our parties help them do just that, while it gives them an opportunity to enjoy each other’s company.”

Nick realizes that office parties give him and his fellow leaders a chance to recognize individual performance. “Team member awards are always fun, but I like to encourage more personal forms of recognition,” he remarked. “I often write personalized notes to go with any formal awards we present. We offer blank thank-you notes to our people during our holiday get-togethers, and they write special messages to colleagues who have helped them over the past year. This is an ideal way to build camaraderie and let your coworkers know how much you appreciate their contributions.”
