TCI Celebrates Expansion Into Exciting New Market

The TCI team is excited about the expansion of their organization into the Virginia Beach area. The firm's president discussed the venture, which Dave A. will manage.

“We at TCI are thrilled at the thought of expanding into Virginia Beach,” declared Nick G., the firm’s president. “It means that we are making the right kind of impact on target audiences. There are already several brands waiting there for us to get set up. I’m just as excited to announce that Dave will be managing the new location.”

In this new role, Dave will be responsible for conducting hiring initiatives, driving operational goals, and leading his team as they develop both personally and professionally. Said Dave, “It’s definitely a lot of responsibility. Fortunately I’ve had some great mentors in this business, like John C., Dave P., Larry T., Scott W., and Harmony. I believe with their continued guidance I’m sure to succeed. In particular, John has always been a great mentor. He does a great job staying in-tuned on what is going on and has always pushed me in the right direction.”

"When you have the right relationships with your people, they will buy into you as a leader, and then they will buy into your vision,"

He also pointed to John C. Maxwell as another source of influence on his leadership style through his books and videos.

Dave continued, saying, “They’ve all shown me how to both give and receive respect and loyalty, two values that are extremely important to me as a business leader. Another value we all share is a commitment to integrity. If I say I’m going to do something, then it is already done. “

TCI Newest Manager Discusses Leadership Strategy

When he was asked how he would approach the task of leading the new TCI office, Dave said the he would follow simple strategies. First, he believes that trust is the only foundation on which to lead a team, and that building trust requires him to focus on developing appropriate business relationships. “When you have the right relationships with your people, they will buy into you as a leader, and then they will buy into your vision,” Dave explained.

He also stated that leadership, in his opinion, is about influence, not titles, and that he would continuously work to earn the respect of his people and the right to lead them. Dave elaborated, saying, “It’s different than my leadership experience in the Navy.”

Finally Dave stated that he would give his people the right tools and resources, and then empower them to take responsibility for themselves. This would give his fledgling TCI team the best opportunity to grow. “I let my people know that it’s okay to fail, as long as they fail forward, pick themselves back up, and learn from their mistakes. Many people mistakenly believe that failure is the opposite of success, but it’s not – it’s actually just an ingredient.”
