Take a Golf Pro Along With You Using New iPhone App
Online, May 13, 2010 (Newswire.com) - AUSTIN, TEXAS - A golfer can spend hours at the driving range trying to figure out what's going wrong with his stroke, but there's something to be said for having a real pro analyze a swing in action. With a new iPhone app from Texas smartphone app developers Appiction, you can literally bring a golf pro with you where ever you go and get frame-by-frame video analysis of your swing. Golf Game Guru, now available for free in the iTunes store, taps the knowledge of veteran golf instructor and PGA member Paul Tessler, whose expertise has been featured in publications including "Newsweek" and "Time."
Golf Guru's live interface allows a golfer to take a 10-second video of his or her swing and upload it directly to Tessler, who analyzes the video and sends a full video report back, pinpointing the exact frames where a swing needs improvement. An average 45-minute session with a golf pro costs about $60, and many of these pros use the same techniques and video technology as Tessler. For half the price of a session with a golf pro, $30, Tessler uses his more than 35 years of experience to hone in on the best way to fix a sickly stroke.
"Although I already run a golf academy, I wanted to be able to reach people outside of normal hours or who couldn't afford a series of golf lessons." said Tessler, who owns an Ohio driving range and golfing academy. Golf Game Guru was designed by Austin-based smartphone developers Appiction, who create Android, Blackberry, iPhone and iPad apps for clients around the world. In addition to Golf Game Guru, Appiction has released other sports apps including Basketball Trivia and will soon be releasing apps targeted at pickup sports, bowling and football.
