Survivor Tails Animal Rescue to Hold 3rd Annual Rescue Fever Gala

The Calendar Guys from the Boston Firefighters Burn Foundation to walk adoptable pups down the red carpet.
Rescue Fever Annual Gala in Memory of Firefighter Pete Kannler

Local animal rescue group Survivor Tails Animal Rescue (STAR) is set to hold its third annual Rescue Fever Gala on Saturday, March 25 at Florian Hall in Dorchester. The event will welcome a wide variety of dogs available for adoption, who will walk the red carpet alongside the Calendar Guys from the Boston Firefighters Burn Foundation.

Last year, STAR welcomed more than 250 attendees and raised more than $35,000, with 20 percent of the proceeds going to the Boston Firefighters Burn Foundation. This year, STAR aims to raise $45,000 to help replenish their Paws in Pain Fund, which funds major medical and unexpected vetting needs.

This year’s gala will be held in memory of Pete Kannler, a Chelsea firefighter and former supporter and friend of STAR, who passed away in 2016 due to occupational-related cancer. In his honor, STAR will be donating 20 percent of the proceeds from the event to the Firefighter Cancer Support Network of Massachusetts.

The upcoming event will feature special guests and an award ceremony honoring local firefighters that have gone above the call of duty to save animals from dire situations. The gala is cohosted by Boston investigative reporters Cheryl Fiandaca and Mary Schwager, and will also feature music by DJ Eliot Ness and the Greater Boston Firefighters Pipes & Drums, as well as an elegant buffet dinner, photo booth, and silent auction.
