Surfing into the Next Century: Surfers Century Modernizes Building, Logo and Wi-Fi

Surfers Century owners announce latest upgrades to modernize Surfers Century Oceanside Apartments.

A brand new lit sign tops the list of many upgrades that Surfers Century Oceanside Apartments undertook in the last five years in order to modernize the apartment building. And with more upgrades on the horizon for 2015, Surfers Century adds to the reasons for staying at its Gold Coast holiday accommodation apartments.

Surfers Century Oceanside Apartments, located less than a block from the beach on Enderley Avenue in the heart of Surfers Paradise, features self-contained holiday apartments with resort-style facilities.

In 2009, the owners committee and Ian and Marion Dennis, building managers, began the process of remodeling the apartment building to bring it out of the 1980s and into the 2000s.

Starting with the exterior, the building was painted and a new rooftop sign was completed in 2009. The porte cochere, the front entrance of the building, received an upgrade the next year. A refurbishment of the gym and amenities block was completed in 2011, and the following year they remodeled the guest car park, garden pathway and pool steps. Last year, the reception and lobby were refurbished, and a new lounge area was added.

Last month, the latest upgrade was the erection of the new, lit pylon street signage. Also new this year, the building now features a new Wi-Fi service provider, which allows holiday guests to surf the Internet for free.

The refurbishment plans continue into 2015. Next year, they will tackle the common areas on each level. This will involve removal of wall mirrors, current lighting and carpets, painting in modern, light colours and replacing apartment entry doors with non-asbestos lining.

In addition, in conjunction with the owners of each unit, more than 90 percent of the apartments in Surfers Century received a remodel and new dcor within the last five years. Considering these apartments are larger than most in the area due to the time it was built, the size and now newly remodeled interior make these Gold Coast holiday accommodation apartments even more attractive for potential guests.

Nowadays, two towers of apartments would be built on a lot the same size as ours, say Ian Dennis, manager of Surfers Century.

Another piece of the upgrade of the building was an update on the logo for the apartment building. The new logo features a wave and the full name of the building in modern font.

Weve been lifting this building out of the 1980s and modernizing it over a period of 10 years, says Dennis. And part of getting out of the 80s was updating the logo.
