Story Time Announces Monsoon Camp In August

Story Time Club has formally announced that a monsoon camp for kids will be held in Kolkata on 15-17 August. Registrations are already open for this three-day event.

Story Time Publications, which specializes in the publication of paperback and hardcover books for kids, is all set to take monsoon fun in Kolkata a couple of notches higher. A three-day monsoon camp has been scheduled to be held in August - and it promises to be a first-of-its-kind children’s event in the city.

The Story Time Monsoon Camp will be conducted on the 15th, 16th and 17th of August, at Tender Care Montessori School (at Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road, Park Street). The head of Teknowledge Software, the mobile apps company which is in charge of organizing the event, explained that the entire thing would be on the lines of the various summer camps regularly hosted in Kolkata. Kids in the 5-12 age group can attend this Story Time extravaganza.

All the details about the Monsoon Camp (including registration information and program schedules) can be seen at www.storytimeforkids.info. Parents can clarify all queries via email, to support@storytimeforkids.info. For direct bookings, 9433138173 and 9433193640 are the numbers to call. This one really promises to be an occasion to remember for the kids of the city. Most of them are counting down the days!

To keep the proceedings systematic, the event planners at Story Time have divided the event days into two batches. The first - from 10am to 12 noon - will be mainly for the younger set of children (who fall in the 5-8 years age range). The afternoon session, from 2pm to 4pm, will witness the presence of kids aged 9-12. On special requests, toddlers around 3-4 years of age would also be admitted.

An impressive line-up of fun activities await the little attendees at the Story Time Monsoon Camp. Mr. Hussain Fakhruddin, the CEO of Teknowledge, informed us that there would be a magic show, an art and craft session, and a drawing/painting competition at the show. Given the unprecedented levels of success that the digital storytelling sessions at Park English School and International Public High School (conducted by Story Time over the last couple of months) enjoyed, it is only natural that such story sessions will feature during the camp as well.

When contacted, the organizers of Story Time Monsoon Camp 2014 highlighted another small session that is likely to witness active participation from the visiting children. It has been named ‘2 Minutes To Fame’ - and would serve as a platform for kids to do basically whatever they want to - right from dressing up in superhero costumes, and doing poem recitations, to singing and giving short extempore (kid-style!) speeches. There is going to be a freestyle dance session as well.

At most summer camps (or other such similar seasonal camps), the health factor of the attending children is often a tad neglected. Story Time has made sure that parents won’t have any cause for complaint in this regard, at the Monsoon Camp. Free health and dental checkups have been specially highlighted in the program itinerary. Parents/guardians have been requested to be present during these medical checkups, to collect reports and stay updated about their little ones’ health.

As per early reports, the announcement of Story Time Monsoon Camp has generated an extremely positive response among parents in Kolkata and the suburbs. The first two days (15 and 16 August) of the event, in fact, have already been sold out. Queries and registration requests are flying in for the sessions on the 17th. Encouragingly, both individual parents as well as nursery schools/kindergartens are showing willingness to make their kids/students a part of the show. Given that it is the exam season at most schools - this is indeed remarkable. Thanks to the volume of interest about the event, organizers have lowered the registration charge from Rs. 500 to Rs. 300 (full package; per kid).

Story Time Monsoon Camp is a brave and innovative endeavor on the part of Story Time/Teknowledge Software, to add that extra dash of fun and frolic during the monsoons. If it is a hit (and all early indications do point towards that), more corporate houses, NGOs and the like will be encouraged to organize such kids’ events.
