Still Time to Fight the Flu
Oahu, Hawaii , January 28, 2017 (Newswire.com) - Times Pharmacy wants to remind the public that there is still time to get vaccinated against the flu.
“We’re right in the middle of the peak of flu season,” said Dr. Norman Estin, from Doctors On Call Maui. “Here in Maui our clinics we’ve been testing 15% positive for Influenza A and we strongly suggest that people go to their nearest pharmacy or medical provider to get the shot if they haven’t already done so.”
Flu is most commonly contracted during the colder months because people spend more time in doors. With the recent spike in flu cases on the mainland, locals should be on high alert as historically this indicates that more cases will pop up in Hawaii in the coming weeks.
“Last year we vaccinated around 10,000 people for the flu,” said Patrick Uyemoto, Clinical Pharmacy Manager at Times Supermarket RX. “So far this year we’re only at 8,500. That means a lot of people are vulnerable, particularly children and the elderly. It’s easy to come in and receive your vaccination, and it will help to keep you healthy as we see more cases statewide.”
Getting a flu shot is convenient and does not require a prescription from your doctor. All Times Pharmacy locations can administer the vaccination and no appointment is necessary.
