Star's Vegan Diet Creates a Rumble

Everything might be bigger in the Lone Star State, well, with the exception of NFL star Arian Foster's appetite for meat and dairy.

The Houston Texans running back recently joined the ranks of other athletes like Lance Armstrong, football player Desmond Howard, and tennis sensation Venus Williams in going vegan.

He has eliminated his regimen of ribs and deviled eggs and said goodbye to breakfast burritos and chicken enchiladas.

But since making the decision to turn to a plant-based diet, Foster’s new way of eating has caused some concern and controversy among fans and those involved in game, who question whether without meat and dairy if he can get enough protein, play as well as he previously did, and be just as tough on the football field.

“People feel so strong about meat and milk,” Foster tweeted after his initial announcement of his new diet, according to ESPN. “I wish they felt this strong about peace.”

Foster, a two-time Pro Bowler weighing in at 229 pounds, even fielded a somewhat of an unsupportive comment from one tweeter who reminded him of the milk he drank as a newborn.

The football player followed that tweet up with one of his own — “My mom didn’t produce cow milk,” reported NFL.com.
