"When you enter these towns, you enter a new territory, and you can't go anywhere without seeing a team logo or color. We've captured that energy and passion, and we've packaged it into 22 minutes."

Rudy Mezzy, Host and Producer, SportsTown

The production company developed the idea for SportsTown when its two founding members were on the road covering a college basketball team.  They along with their former college classmate and then local sportscaster in Grand Island, Nebraska discussed what made going on the road for sports so alluring - the thrill of competition, the passion each small town had for their athletic programs, and the people and establishments that made each town tick.  They decided to develop a show focused on the unique nuances of some of the most famous sports towns in America.

20/20 Visual Media found out that the teams we love do not themselves make a great sports town.  Rather, it’s the people, the businesses, the restaurants, and the history that contributes to those great atmospheres on Saturday.

“When you enter these towns, you enter a new territory, and you can’t go anywhere without seeing a team logo or color”, said Rudy Mezzy, the host and producer of the show. “We’ve captured that energy and passion, and we’ve packaged it into 22 minutes.”

SportsTown’s pilot episode takes viewers behind the scenes of Alabama’s expansive football museum, into one of Tuscaloosa’s most famous barbecue eateries, and of course, stops into Bryant-Denny stadium for game day.

The campaign seeks backers to help continue the show’s journey to find the best sports towns in the country. The program can be supported through its Indiegogo page: http://igg.me/at/SportsTown.

All funds raised will go towards production of the series’ second episode, plus efforts to distribute the program nationwide.
