Solis Winery Wins Awards at Largest American Wines Competition

Online, January 12, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Solis Winery in Gilroy, California won two Gold Medals and a Silver Medal at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. With 4,913 entries, the event is the largest competition of American Wines in the world.

This year, Solis Winery won Gold Medals for its 2008 Muscat Canelli and 2009 Fiano Estate and a Medal for its 2006 Merlot Estate.

Last year, the Solis Winery won awards for its 2007 Fiano Estate (Gold Medal, Best of Class); 2005 Cara Mia Reserve (Silver Medal)and 2007 Chardonnay Estate (Silver Medal) and the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (Bronze medal).

About the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition

The yearly event held at Cloverdale Citrus Fairgrounds on January 5th, brought more than 60 professional wine experts from across the country to the Sonoma County event.

Founded in 1983 as the modestly sized Cloverdale Citrus Fair Wine Competition, the SFCWC broke world records in 2007 with 3,800 American wines entered, officially designating it as the largest competition of American wines in the world. In 2009, the event attracted 4,736 entries, solidifying its reputation as the premier competition of American varietals.
