Sober College Earns Gold Seal of Approval® From the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations

Leading Young Adult Treatment Center in Los Angeles Gains Accreditation for its Superior Care Standards

Sober College, an industry-leading dual diagnosis alcohol and drug treatment center for young adults, announced today its Gold Seal of Approval® from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). The accreditation places the Los Angeles-based treatment facility in a prestigious class of health care organizations and programs within the United States known for their commitment to superior quality and performance standards.

“Since the beginning, we have worked incredibly hard to ensure Sober College went above and beyond in terms of specialized alcohol and drug treatment and rehabilitation for young adults,” says Mindi Levins-Pfeifer, who co-founded Sober College with her late husband, Robert Pfeifer. “This JCAHO accreditation simply confirms all the extra efforts, initiatives, and opportunities we are dedicated to providing for our clients are not going unnoticed.”

"From our staff to our curriculum, Sober College has always been and always will be fully dedicated to giving our clients the absolute best care imaginable. In the past year alone, we were able to launch a state-of-the-art therapeutic learning center that truly exemplifies who we are: the first ever addiction facility to combine college education, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, health and wellness counseling, and creative opportunities under one roof. And, we are not stopping there."

The Joint Commission is responsible for evaluating more than 21,000 health care organizations across the nation. Of the thousands of hospitals, rehab facilities, hospice services, nursing homes, behavioral health centers, and laboratories reviewed, only those who display a strong commitment to excellence in care will receive JCAHO accreditation. In order to receive accreditation, a facility must undergo an intensive review of its program’s structure, treatment practices, and outcomes.

“From our staff to our curriculum, Sober College has always been and always will be fully dedicated to giving our clients the absolute best care imaginable,” says Pfeifer. “In the past year alone, we were able to launch a state-of-the-art therapeutic learning center that truly exemplifies who we are: the first ever addiction facility to combine college education, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, health and wellness counseling, and creative opportunities under one roof. And, we are not stopping there. This accreditation is not only about the work we’ve already done, but it is also about all the future work we plan to do.”
