Snow Alert: Major Snow Storm Delivers 2-3 Feet of Fresh Powder to Squaw Valley USA Just In Time for Presidents' Weekend

The long holiday weekend brings fresh snow for snow sports enthusiasts at Squaw Valley USA.

Squaw Valley USA received a foot of new snow overnight with another possible 3 to 4 feet predicted to blanket the resort over the next three days. With forecasted accumulations of more than 4 to 5 feet of fresh powder, Squaw Valley USA is shaping up for a phenomenal Presidents' Day Weekend on the mountain. The snow is the result of a low-pressure system out of the Gulf of Alaska moving through the Sierra Nevada. More storms are already lining up in the Gulf with indications of a promising finish to the month of February for powder lovers. Last night's snow brings Squaw Valley's snowfall total to 321 inches or more than 26 feet for the 2010-11 winter season.

Now is the time to visit Squaw Valley as the new fly and ski free deal and recently added nonstop flights into the Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) make Squaw Valley USA and the recent snowfall even more accessible to travelers. With a same-day commercial airline boarding pass and matching photo ID, guests can receive a complimentary lift ticket at Squaw Valley's Season Passes & Tickets office. These complimentary half-day lift tickets are valid from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays or from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. mid-week while night operations are in effect.

The recent launch of Continental Airlines' non-stop daily flight service from Houston, TX extends the list of areas that fly directly into Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO). The resort is located just 42 miles or 50 minutes from RNO and 2 hours from the Sacramento International Airport (SMF). From San Francisco and the Bay Area, it is just a 3.5 hour drive on I-80.

The snow falls right in time for Presidents' Day Weekend and Kid-O-Rama, Squaw Valley's two-week long kids and family extravaganza. Big trucks, street and skating parties, balloon animals, and kids' concerts are just a few of the festivities sure to entertain those attending Kid-O-Rama. The added bonus of the three-day holiday weekend provides Squaw guests more time to revel in all of the resort's offerings. From engaging activities for children to the action-packed Squaw Sessions Teen Camp and all the added snow, Squaw Valley USA hosts an array of excitement for visitors, young and old, this weekend.
