Shawmut Communications Group Joins the Global #GivingTuesday Movement
Danvers, MA, December 1, 2015 (Newswire.com) - Shawmut Communications Group has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. This year the organization is participating in a Toys for Tots drive, a food drive hosted by PINE, and donating marketing materials to ALS TDI to support their #GivingTuesday initiatives. In addition, Shawmut has announced a year-long fundraising partnership with RAW Art Works of Lynn, MA.
As a family owned and operated company for more than 60 years, Shawmut has strong ties to the community and a commitment to giving back. During the holidays, Shawmut employees become exceptionally generous. The Toys for Tots drive and the PINE food drive have become annual events for the company. This year employees are challenging themselves to beat last year’s record and the company is pitching in to help them get there. For every toy donated, Shawmut will purchase an additional toy for children and need. In addition, Shawmut has supported ALS TDI by printing marketing materials that will help them raise awareness of ALS this #GivingTuesday.
“We believe it is our responsibility to give back through volunteerism, philanthropy and environmentally responsible business practices,” said Michael Peluso, President of Shawmut Communications Group. We rally around causes that are important to our employees and support organizations that make an impact in our communities.”
Announcing a 2016 Fundraising Campaign for Raw Art Works
In addition to its annual holiday giving programs, Shawmut is kicking off a new campaign in 2016 which will benefit a local non-profit called Raw Art Works (RAW). Located in Lynn, MA, Raw Art Works uses the power of art to inspire thousands of young artists to tell their stories, envision new possibilities, and transform their lives. Each year, they reach more than 2,000 underserved youth aged 7-21 and offer a variety of programs including visual arts groups, a print shop, film school, leadership development and teen employment.
Throughout 2016, Shawmut will be inviting their clients and prospects to participate in a year-long fundraising campaign for RAW. Shawmut believes that RAW’s programs are vital to the future of its industry. Many of the students who graduate from RAW may go on to become artists, graphic designers, marketers and print professionals. Each time someone participates in the campaign or shares it on social media, Shawmut will donate to RAW—helping to support next generation of marketing and print professionals.
RAW’s Executive Director, Kit Jenkins said, "We believe that the greatest gift you can give a kid is teach them to be SEEN and HEARD. In our free weekly arts programming in Lynn, RAW goes big and wide in our use of media ranging from paint to digital, fabric to found objects. This broad palette of possibilities is what ignites kids' desire to create, and the skills they gain with us help them produce art that cannot be ignored. We are grateful that Shawmut has chosen to invest in our artists for an entire year!"
