Second Screen Announces Millennial-Focused Mobile Network That Streams Sophisticated Indie Content in 10-Minute Parts

Award-Winning Screenwriter to Launch a Streaming Mobile App Platform that Serializes Independent Films into a Bite-Size Format Millennials Love

Award-winning screenwriter, actress, and tech executive Estella Gabriel announces Second Screen, a soon-to-launch mobile network that will stream sophisticated bite-size content straight to millennials’ mobile devices. Introducing a unique millennial-focused social community, Second Screen repackages independent films into easily digestible 10-minute parts that view just like a television series. Finally, millennials can watch the stimulating indie content they crave in a way that works with their on-the-go lifestyles.

“Second Screen fulfills a much-needed void in millennial entertainment, providing unique, mature, edgy content that matches the adult world that millennials are discovering in a format that won’t sacrifice users’ valuable time,” said Gabriel. “We are not haphazardly cutting storylines apart either. Every film is thoughtfully screened and serialized in a way that ensures each individual part acts as its own standalone piece, without compromising the integrity of the film. In fact, we are even providing each part with its own title and are giving distribution companies the option to title them as well. Already, the response in our beta testing has been impressive. Out of the 92 percent of users that enjoyed the 10-minute format, 38 percent perceived the content as high production value, original short-form series. This makes a strong statement about the uniqueness of the content and about the effectiveness of our signature 10-minute format.”

"With our mobile app platform and strong beta testing complete as well as our methods for converting films perfected, we are eager to officially launch Second Screen to the public," said Gabriel. "The platform is ad supported, making it free for users, and it will answer millennials' call for the same edgy content they enjoy on cable in a format customized just for them."

All content that will be streaming on Second Screen is mindfully curated by millennials, for millennials. Furthermore, the app's diverse social community adds a secondary layer of excitement and engagement, allowing users to comment on and share content, as well as follow friends and influencers to see what they’re watching.

Additionally, the mobile network is expected to serve as an innovative new platform for independent filmmakers and distribution companies looking to expand viewership. In applying its “10-minute format” to indie films, Second Screen offers access to an entirely new audience in a fresh and modern way.

On top of its niche-curated content, Second Screen is also slated to produce its first original series, Americana, later this year. As the network develops, the company plans to produce more of its own original content.

“With our mobile app platform and strong beta testing complete as well as our methods for converting films perfected, we are eager to officially launch Second Screen to the public,” said Gabriel. “The platform is ad supported, making it free for users, and it will answer millennials’ call for the same edgy content they enjoy on cable in a format customized just for them.”

Second Screen's headquarters are in Venice, California.
