Seattle Author Susan Mallery Hits #1 on the NYT Bestsellers List for the First Time
Thrill Me, the latest book by author Susan Mallery, has hit #1 on the New York Times bestsellers list, a first for the author in her 22-year career. After four of her books hit #2, Mallery has nimbly (and finally) sidestepped the "Always a Bridesmaid" Curse.
Seattle, Washington, August 7, 2015 (Newswire.com) - New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery now has the honor of adding "#1" to the descriptor above her name on all of her upcoming books. Her latest romance novel, Thrill Me, has debuted at the top of the prestigious bestsellers list for mass market paperbacks. After having four books hit the list as high as #2, this is Mallery's first time at #1.

Mallery opened that bottle of champagne Wednesday night and toasted the millions of readers who have slowly and steadily built word-of-mouth about her books.

First published straight out of college, Mallery debuted with two books the same month, January 1992. One was a historical romance novel, Frontier Flame, written as Susan Macias. The other was a contemporary romance novel, Tender Loving Care, published by Silhouette Books, owned by Harlequin Books. The historical romance never earned out its $4,000 advance, while Mallery received several additional royalty checks for the contemporary romance.
"I majored in Accounting," she says, "but it didn't take a genius to do that math. I've focused on contemporary romance and women's fiction for most of my career."
Thrill Me is the fourth of Mallery's five novels to be published in 2015. First came The Girls of Mischief Bay, a bookclub selection-type book, in March. In May, July, and August, came the latest trilogy in her most popular series, the Fool's Gold romances: Hold Me, Kiss Me, Thrill Me. In October, Marry Me at Christmas will be released in gift-sized hardcover.
