Seabury Nursing & Rehabilitation Hosts Annual Christmas Dance
Odessa, TX, December 15, 2016 (Newswire.com) - On Thursday, December 15th, Seabury Nursing & Rehabilitation hosted and celebrated its 6th annual Christmas dance. Residents, families and staff enjoyed listening to a DJ play and even Santa Claus made an appearance.
Seabury Nursing & Rehabilitation’s residents and staff took part in the event by snacking on hor d'oeuvres, listening to holiday music and enjoying conversation with friends and family. Colleen Jones-Smith, the administrator of the facility, said it was a nice way to kick off the holiday season and enjoy the residents and families.
The holiday season always brings a lot of work and craziness. So it's nice to take a step back and just enjoy some music, food and friends and see all that we have to be thankful for this season.

“The holiday season always brings a lot of work and craziness,” Smith said. “So it’s nice to take a step back and just enjoy some music, food and friends and see all that we have to be thankful for this season.” Smith said everyone danced and extra staff was on hand to help residents with the wheelchair dances.
Smith said she feels it’s important that Seabury Nursing & Rehabilitation host annual events such as this Christmas dance to show appreciation for both residents and staff. “At Seabury, we are all family here,” Smith said.
She said the staff especially enjoy spending time during the Christmas dance to interact more with residents and see them enjoying themselves. This year, the staff bought gifts for their Friends of Frieda. Friends of Frieda is a program the facility participates in where each resident is matched with a staff member with which they have a special bond. The staff member pays special attention to and spends extra time with their Friend of Frieda.
“We work together every day to provide the best care for our residents,” Smith said. “And I think we make a pretty great team and it’s important to us that we spend time being thankful and celebrating with one another.”
