SEA Change Annual Northeast Ohio Pitch Event - Free and Open to the Public
Twelve-week Social Enterprise Accelerator Concludes with Competition for $50,000
Cleveland, OH, June 7, 2017 (Newswire.com) - On June 19th, at Music Box Supper Club, finalists from the Northeast Ohio social enterprise accelerator known as SEA Change will compete for $50,000 in funding.
Participating entrepreneurs aim to generate measurable social change with their businesses.
SEA Change's mission to connect resources, innovators, and mentors culminates on the evening of our annual pitch event. Finalists have 5 minutes to sell their idea to the room and the judges. This years cohort is one of the most promising yet.

"Social enterprises are revenue-generating businesses with a twist. Whether operated by a non-profit organization or by a for-profit company, a social enterprise has two goals: to achieve social, cultural, community economic and/or environmental outcomes; and, to earn revenue." Over the past 12 weeks participants have interfaced with mentors, coaches and professionals who possess expertise in improving business models, strategies, structures and processes that propel organizations to the next stages of development and scale.
Some participating social enterprises include:
KinderKits - Winner of the 2017 Accelerate competition (The Cleveland Leadership Center), provides families with information and items that can be used to develop key skills in an engaging way while laying the foundation for kindergarten and future learning.
Cleveland Co-Labs - Is on a mission to provide a platform for citizens, businesses, and government to collaborate, communicate and innovate solutions that solve local problems and positively impact their local communities.
Suds Brewing Company - Suds is a small business started by two teenage brothers. The tag line "We Brew Soap" helps to illuminate one key difference in their product: beer! They make small batches of beer soap with natural ingredients and locally brewed beer waste.
Entrepreneurs, funders, and investors independent of the accelerator will be in attendance. Appearances by previous winners and graduates are expected as well.
