Scottsdale Counselor Partners With Local Organizations to Help Veterans

Pathways Counseling Services brings attention to PTSD

Announced today, Pathways Counseling Services, PLLC, launched an awareness campaign to bring attention to veterans and how Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) affects them. The goal of this campaign is to help more veterans, their families, and community members understand what PTSD is and know that there are specific treatments that can help improve and save lives.

“Raising PTSD awareness is essential to overcoming the myth, misinformation and stigma that too often prevents veterans from seeking help,” said Stephanie Levitt, founder of Pathways Counseling Services. “We are partnering with local organizations in this effort to share important information about PTSD and help veterans receive the care they need.”

Pathways Counseling Services is one of the premier counseling providers in Scottsdale that specializes in treatment for PTSD. Through a proven effective psychotherapy treatment approach known as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Pathways Counseling Services is helping veterans cope with symptoms of PTSD and others who suffer from an unresolved trauma from their past.

PTSD and unresolved trauma can affect us negatively in our present day lives. The goal of EMDR is to reduce the long-lasting effects of distressing memories by developing more adaptive coping mechanisms. This therapy works by permitting the traumatic memories to be accessed and then processed both emotionally and cognitively, which allows for their resolution.

EMDR has been thought to be one of the most effective and thoroughly researched methods ever used in treating PTSD and trauma. Within three to four sessions of EMDR, many people that have been treated for a traumatic incident find relief from post-trauma emotional symptoms. EMDR is different from traditional talk therapy and many will feel positive results in as little as one session.

For more information on how EMDR can be used to treat PTSD and other traumatic experiences read, “Resolving the Traumas of Life”, written by Stephanie Levitt.  If you or someone you know is suffering from PTSD or an unresolved trauma please contact Pathways Counseling Services today.
