Scottish Renaissance Festival and Loch Lomond Games

Authentic Renaissance Festival Centered Around Scottish Games, Food, and Fun.

ANNOUNCING THE 2010 SCOTTISH RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL AND LOCH LOMOND HIGHLAND GAMES

(Watsonville, Calif., June 16, 2010) --- Kick up your heels with the Scots this summer at the expanded Scottish Renaissance Festival in Santa Cruz! Held June 19th and 20th, 2010 this family friendly event is proud to announce the addition of the Loch Lomond Highland games, offering all family members an opportunity to experience a time of magic and legend through "a Ceilidh to remember".

A "Ceilidh" is a Celtic gathering that celebrates the culture through music, dance and revelry. Whether from the rocky shores of the islands, the heathered Highlands in the North, or the rich farmlands of the Borders, the Scots bring true enjoyment and sportsmanship to the coast.

The Festival permeates every aspect of Scottish culture as the thoroughfares are filled with the echoes of bagpipes and the movement and reeling of dancers, combined with the thrilling sounds of clashing swords. Meet great kilted warriors and beautiful lasses who will share their stories and music, or step into the marketplace for handmade crafts, jewelry and clothing. Demonstrations of strength and bravery will abound, and with more than 45 artisans and crafters, three stages, games and activities, food and ale, and over 300 costumed re-enactors, this event has something for all ages.

2010 marks the fifth year that Charity Events will be hosting a Renaissance Festival in Santa Cruz. For the first two years, the event was called the Dragon Slayers Renaissance Festival in Aptos. Many of the dedicated actors, artisans, and participants have been participating in these events for over 40 years. The proceeds from this event will be donated to the Cultural Council of Santa Cruz County to support their Arts Learning Program.

As a culture steeped in ancient lore and magical secrets, the Scottish history offers a firsthand glimpse into the enchantment and mystery. Scottish tradition promotes a belief that there's a direct connection between the physical and spiritual worlds and that life itself has a multitude of possibilities. Join us in a time and place where reincarnation of the individual soul is possible, mythical beings appear here on earth, and things are not always as they seem....
