Other productivity habits that Joslyn and the firm’s managers are encouraging their team members to follow include changing their scenery frequently, meditation, effective delegation, and focusing on one task at a time rather than attempting to multitask. “You’d be surprised how much more efficient you can be if you stick to working on one thing at a time rather than trying to jump back and forth between multiple items,” she said. “You don’t lose the momentum and therefore you complete your assignments faster.”

As Joslyn noted, the Scorpion Associates team has been learning about upcoming trends for next year. One that caught their eyes was how small businesses will be able to access big data. “This is huge,” she exclaimed. “When it comes to marketing, the ability to utilize information such as demographics and consumer preferences is essential to creating accurate profiles. Before, it’s only been larger firms that have been able to afford it. Now there are business intelligence tools that fit within the realm of a smaller business’ budget.”

Another major move anticipated for 2016 is the possible “Buy” button for Facebook and other social media sites. “This could allow brands to capitalize on the digital relationships they’ve built with customers,” Joslyn shared. “It provides for a faster response to consumer triggers.”

“Overall, the trends we’re seeing for 2016 look positive,” Joslyn concluded. “It’s going to be a fabulous year.”
