Scintel Technologies Announces Achievement of CMMI Level 3

Company joins an elite roster of global organizations dedicated to quality and process improvement

Scintel Technologies Inc., a leading provider of consulting and IT services, today announced that it had achieved a CMMI Level 3 rating, as defined by the Software Engineering Institute Capability Maturity Model® Integration (CMMI®), at its Global Delivery Centers.

CMMI Level 3 documents that Scintel has established effective, efficient and well-defined processes and procedures for software development and delivery. The institutionalization of this metrics driven approach establishes an effective mechanism for metrics collection and validation around process improvements. Immediate measurable benefits include a 15% increase in both quality and productivity. "This tremendous achievement reflects our world-class performance capabilities and quality focus," said T.K. Ganesh, president and CEO of Scintel. "It is another demonstration of our ongoing commitment to process improvements that deliver measurable business benefits to our clients."

CMMI is a process improvement approach that provides organizations with the essential elements of effective processes that ultimately improve their performance. CMMI helps integrate traditionally separate organizational functions, set process improvement goals and priorities, provide guidance for quality processes, and provide a point of reference for appraising current processes."This is a major milestone for Scintel as a global technology leader," added Vidya Viswanath, head of Global Delivery Centers. "I feel proud to be a part of such an energetic and dedicated team."

The complete Standard CMMI Appraisal Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPI) process took over one year and nearly 5,000 hours of effort. Global SEI partner Infycareer performed the final assessment during December 2010 in conjunction with an appraisal team of Scintel personnel. While a typical SCAMPI evaluates 85% of projects, Scintel took the unique approach of using a 100% project sample size, achieving the Level 3 rating across all Centers and ensuring that all projects were fully aligned with CMMI processes and best practices. Other recent Scintel quality and process certifications include ISO 9001:2008, ISO 27001 and SAS 070.
