Scale Computing Named as TechPoint Mira Awards Program Finalist

Five independent judging panels selects data storage provider Scale Computing to compete for Indiana's top technology honors in the Information Technology Company category

Scale Computing, a developer and manufacturer of complete, end-to-end midmarket clustered storage solutions, announces that five independent panels of judges have chosen Scale Computing to compete for the state's top technology honors - the TechPoint Mira Awards presented by BKD. Scale is competing in the Information Technology Company category, after winning the 2009 Mira Award in the Information Technology Gazelle Company category. 2010 winners will be announced at the Mira Awards Gala being held Saturday, May 15, at The Westin Indianapolis.

Judges chose from a record number of nominations in 15 categories this year, including the new "Excellence and Innovation in New Media" category. Now in its 11th year, TechPoint's Mira Awards recognize the achievements of Indiana's outstanding technology performers and contributors, and focuses attention on the broader issue of the important role technology plays in Indiana's economy. Scale Computing was chosen to compete in the Information Technology Company category, which consists of companies that sell information technology products or services, develop hardware or software, network and systems integrators, or are part of MIS departments and vendors.

"More than 1,500 technology companies are operating in the state of Indiana and no other state can reasonably claim to have the leadership positions in new media 'measured marketing' or health care IT that we do," said Jim Jay, president and CEO, TechPoint. "Tech companies based in Indiana realize greater overall business value than those located on the coasts because of our superior tech workforce, educational resources and lower infrastructure costs. I think that's reflected in receiving a record number of nominations for Mira Awards following the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression."

"We are honored to be recognized by TechPoint as one of Indiana's outstanding technology performers and the recognition further validates our decision to relocate the company to Indiana to help grow the local technology industry," said Jeff Ready, CEO and founder, Scale Computing. "Coupled with our recent funding from Benchmark Capital as well as the continued support of the Indiana tech family, the recognition strengthens our position as an innovator in the midmarket storage space and further lays the groundwork for Scale to continue to meet the accelerating demand we're experiencing."

Scale's storage portfolio is based on the company's Intelligent Clustered Storage (ICS) technology, which enables users to add storage hardware, known as storage nodes, as necessary without suspending services or migrating data. IT managers are able to build out storage clusters, starting with just six terabytes (raw) up to the multiple petabyte range on a single file system. As a unified storage platform, Scale's Starter Cluster line of products provides for simultaneous SAN and NAS services from a single pool of storage, providing enterprise-class, truly clustered and highly scalable storage. Scale's storage portfolio aims to reduce costs while increasing control, as well as make storage management more convenient for IT administrators.

The winners will be announced at the Mira Awards Gala being held Saturday, May 15, at The Westin Indianapolis. TechPoint will again honor past Mira Award winners and finalists attending the ceremony with a special "Winner's Circle" reception.
