RALEIGH, N.C. (April 20, 2010)―The 10th Annual Second Empire 5K Classic (www.secondempireraceraleigh.com) will take place May 2, 2010 in downtown Raleigh. Presented by Wingate by Wyndham, proceeds will benefit Hopeful Parents (www.nchopefulparents.org) which provides community support to adoptive and birth families. The event will include a competitive and non-competitive 5K run/walk, a one-mile recreational run/walk and a kids' dash. The event will also include an adoption expo with professionals from North Carolina-based organizations on hand to speak with participants.

Registration remains open and participants have several options available:

• Online at http://tinyurl.com/5KClassic2010 through Saturday, May 1 at midnight.
• In person at Life Time Fitness in Cary on Thursday, April 29 from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.
• In person at The Athlete's Foot in Raleigh's Cameron Village on Friday, April 30 from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.
• In person at CU Fitness at 408 Hillsborough St. on Saturday, May 1 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.
• In person on race day beginning at noon.

Registration fees are as follows:
• Before 4/24 - $20 (Tek shirt included)
• From 4/25-5/1 - $25*
• Race day, May 2: $30*
• A Child's Hope 1-Mile Fun Run - $10 (Tek shirt not included)
• Kids' Dash - $5 (Tek shirt not included)

About Second Empire 5K Classic:
In its 10th year, the Second Empire 5K Classic has a long-standing commitment to supporting community organizations. This year, the 5K Classic will benefit Hopeful Parents (www.nchopefulparents.org), a nonprofit organization that assists prospective adoptive parents in preparing to adopt and provides community support to adoptive and birth families. With more than 800 participants in 2008, the 5K Classic consists of a 5K race, a 1-mile fun run and a 100-yard run for kids 6 years old and younger.
