Samanvay 2014, the Annual Alumni Meet at KIAMS Turns Out to Be a Resounding Success
Online, August 19, 2014 (Newswire.com) - It was a homecoming for alumni from various batches at KIAMS who came together for the 2014 instalment of Samanvay. The much anticipated alumni meet was organized to perfection by the institute that wanted to leave no stone unturned to ensure that its past students received a warm welcome to their second home. And they showed up in large numbers, further strengthening their bond with the institute. It thus turned out to be a day to remember for a long time to come.
Student alumni representatives at the institute had worked hard to ensure that KIAMS' glittering ambassadors from different parts of the world could make it for the event. And of course they did, as the campus was buzzing with excitement since morning. Alumni from different batches were seen mingling as they took a walk down the memory lane and relived their happy moments on the campus. The campus itself wore a festive look, being decorated with flowers and balloons to add to the ambience.
Samanvay 2014 officially began with the traditional lighting of the lamp. The venue was packed with alumni who greeted Dr. Janaki Nayak, Dr. Gopal Iyengar and the faculty members warmly. These past students are the flag bearers for the institute and representation of its vision for management excellence. Today, they had come back having made a mark for themselves in different industry sectors and making their institute proud. They also had valuable experiences to share with today's students, who found them enriching.
The experience-sharing exercise had only whetted the appetite of students who were in for a treat as the session broke for lunch. Over delectable dishes, students were seen having delicate discussions with the alumni on various subjects. They wanted to know more about everything; from planning their careers to placement strategies and insights into the real corporate world. The affable alumni not only answered all their queries but made them feel comfortable with a distinctly friendly vibe that spread warmth all around.
Cultural programs ruled the afternoon session of Samanvay 2014 as things got underway with a duet from the students of the B17 batch. From dance performances to comedy skits and mimicry, there were several acts that filled the venue with laughter. A Hindi poem about college days was then recited and it instantly managed to strike a chord with all present. Some of the alumni also took to stage and impressed the gathering with their vocal skills, which were on full display.
The session ended with alumni being given mementos to remember the day by. Thanks giving speech followed before refreshments were served for all. Suitably "refreshed" everyone then took part in activities like treasure hunt that led to a lot of fun. Students, past and present, were clubbed into different teams, and it offered them another opportunity to break the ice and bond with the rest. These playful activities were a nice way to ensure that today's students learned a lot from their seniors and connected with them.
By the end of the night, all the barriers between students past and present had vanished, as they sat next to each other at dinner. In fact, so heartening was the camaraderie that you could see alumni sharing some of their trade secrets with the young students. Samanvay 2014 came to a close with the DJ playing some of the peppy and popular numbers that brought the gathering to its feet. The alumni let their hair down forgetting their professional pressures and danced with abundance along with the current students and created memories for the future.
