Right2Breathe® to Offer Free Asthma Screenings During NHRA New England Nationals

Thanks to funding provided by Novartis® and ndd Medical Technologies, Right2Breathe® will offer Free Asthma Screening to measure lung function during NHRA New England Nationals July 6-8, 2018, at New England Dragway.

Right2Breathe® Inc., a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization based in Flemington, New Jersey, will be providing free spirometry exams, while offering educational materials and raising awareness for asthma during the NHRA New England Nationals contested in Epping, New Hampshire, from July 6-8 at New England Dragway.

The Right2Breathe® Free Asthma Screening program, which is funded by a grant provided by Novartis® and sponsorship from ndd Medical Technologies, is the non-profit's third at a large NHRA Event. Right2Breathe® successfully debuted their program at the NHRA California Hot Rod Reunion held in October 2016 and completed similar events in Charlotte and Maple Grove in 2017. During the three NHRA National Events, Right2Breathe® screened thousands of drag racing fans, drivers and vendors for asthma, COPD and other pulmonary diseases.

At previous NHRA events, we've been able to provide more than 1,700 racing fans, crew members and vendors with a baseline lung function test to let them know how their lungs are performing. The simple act of Putting your Lungs on the Dyno™ can help your primary care physician correctly diagnose a lung health issue if it exists. As we all know, early diagnosis of any chronic disease is critical for living a higher quality of life.

Right2Breathe® co-founders Joe Morrison and Tim Charlet, second-generation drag racers themselves, are inviting Northeastern United States drag racing fans, race team members and vendors to "Put their Lungs on the Dyno™" during the sensory overload that is the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series.

“We’re happy to once again serve the drag racing community by offering free lung function screening during the NHRA New England Nationals,” stated Joe Morrison, the CEO and co-founder of Right2Breathe®. “At previous NHRA events, we’ve been able to provide more than 1,700 racing fans, crew members and vendors with a baseline lung function test to let them know how their lungs are performing. The simple act of Putting your Lungs on the Dyno™ can help your primary care physician correctly diagnose a lung health issue if it exists. As we all know, early diagnosis of any chronic disease is critical for living a higher quality of life.”

Asthma is a long-term (chronic) lung disease that causes episodes of coughing, wheezing and shortness of breath. Like all chronic illnesses, asthma cannot be cured but it is very manageable, especially once a patient is correctly diagnosed. Several genetic and environmental factors such as family history, exposure to secondhand smoke and environmental irritants have all been identified as risk factors for asthma.

One of the first steps in beginning the treatment of asthma is completing a non-invasive and simple spirometry exam, which will be administered by respiratory therapists and other medical professionals in the Right2Breathe® screening area located in the manufacturers' midway all three days during the event. An estimated 17.7 million adults and 6.3 million children in the United States live with asthma.

The Right2Breathe® Project, with support once again from Allergy & Asthma Network, will be set up in the vendor's midway, located on the professional pit side of New England Dragway. Fans are encouraged to stop by the Right2Breathe® display in the midway to sign up for free daily raffles and prizes and receive educational materials not only about asthma and other respiratory diseases but also how allergies can also impact respiratory health. The Right2Breathe® screening area will be open Friday from 12:30-6 p.m., Saturday from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m.

As always, fans will have the opportunity to interact with their favorite NHRA drivers as Every Ticket's a Pit Pass® at the most powerful and sensory-filled motorsports attraction on the planet. Get direct access to the teams, see firsthand as the highly skilled mechanics service their hot rods between rounds and get autographs from NHRA drivers for no additional cost.

Tickets can be purchased at NHRA.com or by calling 800-455-FANS (3267). Purchase early and save!
