Resolution Development Services Contributes to Warrior Robotics (A FIRST Program Team)
Woburn, MA, February 23, 2017 (Newswire.com) - Resolution Development Services Inc., a leading provider of product development services to the medical, life science and consumer markets, has announced a contribution of $1000.00 to the Lincoln Sudbury Regional High School Warrior Robotics team.
Warrior Robotics is participating in FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) robotics competitions. Under strict rules, with limited resources, and a 6-weak time window, each team must raise funds, design a team brand, and build and program industrial sized robots for competition.
Throughout the school year, Warrior Robots provides members with valuable practice in teamwork, leadership and engineering. Team members learn about specific topics in the field of engineering including electrical and mechanical, while also using the engineering design process and the skills they’ve learned to build a robot.
Per the US Department of Education, only 16% of high school students are interested in a STEM career and have a proven proficiency in mathematics. A recent survey revealed that only 29 percent of Americans rated the country’s K-12 education in STEM subjects as above average or the best in the world.
The Warrior Robotics FIRST program offers many benefits to participants, including participation in STEM programs by both young men and women and outreach into the local community through Lego League Robot Programs for middle school. The program has had a measurable impact with more than 90% of graduating seniors plan to pursue STEM careers after college.
“As a development partner to many companies in the life sciences and medical device industries, Resolution understands the importance of supporting young engineers, scientist and entrepreneurs in developing the next generation of technologies,” said Leo Carayannopoulos, CEO of Resolution Development Services. “We are proud to support local programs the encourage young people to pursue technical careers.“
